AIM attended the project presentation to gain a first-hand insight into this new facility planned for the Port of Tazacorte and the opportunities it offers for the island’s blue economy.
On 18 June 2025, AIM attended the presentation of the Blue Innovation Centre (BIC) La Palma and its feasibility study in Los Llanos de Aridane. The event provided an insight into what this future centre, planned for the Port of Tazacorte, will look like, and the opportunities it offers for the development of projects related to the sea and the blue economy on the island.
The La Palma BIC plans to house specialised laboratories, testing areas, co-working spaces, offices for start-ups and areas dedicated to technical and scientific training. The aim is for people from different backgrounds and organisations to be able to find, in one place, the resources they need to develop projects, undertake training and work on new initiatives related to the marine environment.
We at AIM attended the presentation to find out more about an initiative that could open up new possibilities for La Palma and which ties in with areas that are also part of our work, particularly research, innovation and the development of projects in the region.
The event gave us a slightly better understanding of what the future BIC has in store and the opportunities that a venue of this kind can offer for the development of new projects on the island.
